Our Story

It all started with our adventurous hike through Jordan’s breathtaking landscapes. Amidst the mountains, canyons, and desert, we stumbled upon Wadi Araba, a treasure waiting to be uncovered. This is a part of Jordan largely undiscovered, though it deserves as much attention as other popular sites, like Wadi Rum and Petra, with equally stunning vistas and a rich tapestry of natural wonders.

However, it wasn’t just the awe-inspiring scenery that touched us. It was the warmth and hospitality of the people inhabiting these lands. Their kindness and generosity resonated deeply with us, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts. Fueled by our passion for exploration and a newfound appreciation for the hidden gems of Wadi Araba, we embarked on a journey. a journey where the beauty lay in the spontaneity and authenticity of every moment.

Of The Area

History

Bir Madhkur, located in central Wadi Araba, provides an excellent venue for sustainable economic development through both eco and archaeological tourism as a result of its breathtaking natural landscapes and its many historical and archaeological sites. Bir Madhkur lies along the famed and ancient Incense Route, which crossed Wadi Araba from Petra en route to Gaza. The site contains a Roman fort, bathhouse, several caravan stations, towers, and other ancient building ruins. Smaller sites in the surrounding area have been discovered and are believed to have supported the ancient trade in aromatics and spices. Sites along the Incense Route in the Negev Desert to the west have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites, thus it is reasonable to assume that the sites along the Jordanian side of Wadi Araba may be developed and elevated to World Heritage status as well. This designation would increase the attractiveness of Bir Madhkur and Wadi Araba for tourism.
